Here's a link to that post.. Although you didn't tell us which operating system you have installed on your computer, many of the same things apply. If you happen to have Vista or Win7 on your computer, then you'll want to start by eliminating unnecessary services, then proceed with the unnecessary startup programs in "msconfig".:

I want to clean up unused programs at startup to maximize my system but am not familiar with some of the names and/or which ones I don't need. For the most part all I do is emailing, browsing the web, printing and just general stuff. I know I don't need all of them that were programmed in when I bought this computer last year.
