What portable battery pack shoud work with HP 17 laptop

Mar 25, 2018 5:49PM PDT

What portable battery pack should I buy to charge my HP 17-116DX laptop when I am camping with no electricity? Does anyone have any experience using a battery pack. I know they can be heavy.

Any suggestions?

In principle, every battery pack that delivers the same voltage as your power adapter (that's probably something like 19 V), outputs at least the same current (A, for example 3.34) or power (W, for example 65) and comes with the right plug would suffice.
The longer you want to use it, the larger the capacity (in Wh) must be.

My HP laptop only "charges" with a real HP adapter. But it runs from other adapters also.

Google tells me: "Alibaba.com offers 1175 19v portable battery pack products. About 32% of these are power banks." That's not meant as a recommendation, by the way, just to show they exist.

Thank you for your response. I am hoping that I can get recommendations from people who travel or sometimes go to primitive places. What would be ideal would be a pack that could also charge my phone at the same time.

To charge a phone you need 5V in a USB-port.

3 ideas

1- USB cable to mobile or laptop
2- Auto/car charger
3- Brick charger, standalone battery pack

USB type cable get the one proper for your device and usually that can be used on any of the above.

Today, many laptops do not work with just a battery pack. Why

The reasons date back to laptop battery fire days. Dell and most makers implement a 3-wire power system so you can no long supply a plus and minus connection and work.

My friends like the usual battery pack with the solar panel on it for charging phones.

Dell has battery packs for specific models so for anything generic you are packing a power unit with AC output. Example:
