I got my LG G4 years ago and it's been super. I did fit it with a big battery and the stock battery did die outside the phone so I wonder if the stock battery was just a bad lot. Anyhow, moving on.
I replaced it with a Moto G 5th gen. The 6th Gen is out now and if I lost my 5th Gen, I'd buy another.
My current phone is the LG G4 that I generally like, but it's my 3rd one and I had problems with boot looping as well it overheating. The other problem is that it is just pretty slow now. I really like having a removable battery and am upset I can't find a new phone with one.
Naturally I'm looking at the LG G6/G7, but don't know if it's worth paying extra for the G7. What about the Samsung S8/S9 or LG V series? Any other suggestions?
As for phone use I cover the front camera with black tape so that's not an issue. My main priorities are phone call quality, reading/writing emails, texting, battery life, and viewing photos and documents. Occasionally I'll take pictures so a good camera would be nice, but for important moments I use a separate camera. Never play games on it.
