Question

What kind/type of RAM memory stiks should I be using on my m

Hello. I've recently been given a 'homemade' PC by a friend, and the RAM memory has been stolen from it. Been a while since I've used it and need to know what kind/type it requires, according to the manufacturer of motherboard. The only info I can see on it is this: MCP6P M2+ Ver. 6.1. The 2 slots say "DIMMA1 & DIMMB1"..both have just one notch. Thanks for any help you can provide me.

You'd go by the MB manufacturer..model number of board etc. Go to the manufacturer's website punch in the info, should be able to do it that way. Or you could take the unit or nomenclature to a tech shop and they could tell you. It is not a good idea to start stuffing RAM in a board without knowing if it is the right stuff.

That seems to be a Biostar motherboard. With a known maker and known model you can either go to their site and download the manual, or ask the memory finder of crucial.com.

Kess got it right, it is a Biostar. That board will take any of these gradients, PC-2 4200/5300/6400 DDR-2 SDRAM..up to 4 GB.
