Question

What kind of graphics card is this?

Aug 29, 2015 7:59AM PDT

So I got a second-hand PC for free, but I think the integrated video card doesn't work because the screen doesn't even turn on when I turn on the PC. However, I found another graphics card in it, but I really have no idea what kind of port it has, since it's neither VGA nor DVI. Can someone please tell me what it is and whether I can get a VGA adaptor for it?

You'll want to make sure the picture is viewable by the public.

Did you or can you check the BIOS to see if the on board

graphics is enabled? That's one possible reason and some will do this to make an add-in graphics card the default. But, as mentioned, you picture doesn't show. There are several graphics output capabilities including RGB using separate RCA type jacks or even HDMI. HDMI output signals are essentially the same as DVI-D and adapters are available for these. There might be some odd chance that the card you are seeing is some sort of input device rather than output. A better way than trying to link to a picture might be to remove the card and note any markings that might suggest a make or model of the card. Give that a try.

That is what many onboard graphics do.

They disable when the card is installed. Read my reply about how we learned what model things were.
