Question

What is yet_another_cleaner.exe?

Dec 11, 2013 9:14AM PST

I noticed that I have numerous files of this in the developer section in the finder, each with a sequential number starting from 1 then 2,3,4,5,6, etc. About 25 total so far. What exactly is this and do I need it on my Mac Mini with OS X version 10.8. Could this have anything to do with the spinning wheel of death I sometimes get while in Safari. (I have tons of HD space, and I close out apps I'm not using...

If I don't need yet_another_cleaner.exe, can I delete those file folders? Thanks for suggestions. Kinda new at the Mac thing...

Answer
May as well haul it off to the trash.

Mac OS X can't use that .exe. Must be a Windows thing.

About that web site that is trying to infect your computer? I'd stop going there.

That's what I thought...

I didn't think it was anything useful for the Mac. The only site I think could be a culprit is when I occasionally go to Coolportz to watch a B-ball or football game. I never download anything there, but they try to get you to download some player, which I never do cause I know I don't need it. I'll delete the files before going there next time and then check to see if I get more of them again. If I do, then I'd know the source. Thanks R.
