Not only is is difficult to impossible to load another OS but even loading a bog standard Windows is hard.
You can guess that Signature Edition models are not on my shopping list.

Just bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 "5565 signature edition" Windows 10 (AMD FX 7th Gen), and so far this thing has been very disappointing. Every web site freezes or crashes basically every time I click something or when I'm typing something in, every app/program takes a stupid amount of time to download, and everything else on this laptop freezes or crashes almost every single time, even things like "computer settings". I wasn't even able to open this forum and start typing on Windows Edge browser, so I downloaded Firefox and that has allowed me to do this.
I haven't transferred any of my files from my old laptop and have only downloaded a few programs, so this Dell has nothing taking up memory on it. What should I do to get this thing working right? Any special programs to download, get rid of, or stay away from? Should I stay signed out of any accounts that this laptop links to, like Windows/hotmail? I just did a scan with the security program that came on this laptop and it checked out perfect.
Another thing is this laptop completely forgets internet/wifi every time I close the laptop or turn it off, so when I turn it on again it can't find any networks and I have to troubleshoot to get it connected.
And last thing, I have a stereo system on my desk I like to keep connected to my laptop with an AUX cable through the headphone jack, but this Dell will still only play sounds through it's own speakers.
Please let me know what I should do about these problems, trying to resolve this right away as I need this laptop for my job. Thanks

Is the makers install something like McAfee web protection software or a big AV suite and for many the web browser protection just makes a mess of everything.
Here I'm on Firefox with the usual Ublock Origin and looking to replace Web Of Trust. That is all.
As to the WiFi, that's a warranty issue. Let them fix it.
Hi there,
like one of our user said here- DO you have any preinstalled antivirus in your Dell Laptop?
Sometimes these Antivirus makes our life HELL.
In my opinion, if you have Genuine windows then you should not need any kind of Antivirus.
Other Tips for your future:-
1. dont download software from a untrustable website like torrent etc.
2. Clear your Prefetch and %temp% files.
And dont use internet explorer, it is very slow.
Use another browser like Mozilla firefox and Google Chrome.

It came with windows defender installed, that's the only anti-virus or security program I can find on it. Firefox has been working much better than Windows Edge (came installed), but it has still froze a couple times. Should I get rid of Windows Defender and have no security programs at all? What about Panda Security?
Also this laptop did not come with a Windows 10 backup CD. I thought all computers come with an operating system backup CD...so should I contact Dell, or Costco.com (who I bought it from)?
Few new machines come with a restore disc.
It's up to you, the user, to make one.
Look in your manual and it should explain how to do that.
I disabled Windows Defender, and only a few minutes later this computer froze so bad I had to hold the power button to turn it off. But I heard I should make sure Windows is up to date, and when I checked the updates in Settings, it said "failed" under every update. I have not seen where I can re-download these updates. Maybe this is what's slowing this computer down...how do I redo all the updates?
While you could try a factory reset (Dell must tell how) it sounds like this one is a dud. Let them fix or bail out with a full refund.
