What is wrong with Samsung's TV image?

Aug 25, 2016 8:22AM PDT

Hi all.

Decided to upgrade my 3-year old TV and bought this yesterday. My wife wanted an LG because it is prettier, but I convinced her about the Samsung (despite the $130 difference) because Samsung has better reviews.

We turned it on last night to test it and we were shocked by its image. There is something really weird with this TV. Through the whole movie, it seemed like the camera was being held by an amateur because there was camera movement when there should be none. I have no idea what exactly the problem is, but I suspect it is related to the image speed.

Anyway, it is just bad.

It can be a big difference in the way the picture is changed. I would suggest changing the Auto Motion Plus settings in the Picture menu set it to off. This should help

That sounds like the Soap Opera Effect.

I see HDTech wrote about the setting. I'm just adding what the effect is usually called.

Thank you Samsung_HD_Tech. It does seem to have fixed the issue. I will do some more testing and come back to comment. Not sure why this is the default setting though. Does anyone like this?

OMG! You nailed it! It does look like a Mexican Soap Opera ^^
