This is because you have a setting turned on in Mail

that is not normally turned on.

Launch Mail and in the View menu, at the top of the screen, and put the mouse on Message.
Another part of the menu will be displayed.
You should see "Default Headers"
Click on "Default Headers"

All will now be returned to normal

Let us know if that does not work for you

Thanks, P..... it wasn't under the view but in preferences under "Mail," called "show header detail." I changed it and will let you know if it helped. I think what happened is I was curious as to the "path," and clicked it then forgot that I had done that. Guess that serves me right for dinging around before I know what I'm doing. Thanks again, you guys are terrific and I'd be lost without you. I'm still learning so I'm sure I will be back again with more questions.
