What is this (~)

I keep getting this tittle popping up on my desktop. While trying to right click on it and find out where it is coming from it's telling me that it is in documents and settings ( my profile ) and also it was found in common files. What the heck is it and where is it coming from. It will appear at any time and at no particular time at all. Could it be a hacker or virus? Nothing will tell me what it is. The properties of it say nothing except it is a file and is 173kb....any help please.....

I had the same thing and it confused me too. Apparently its left on my desktop after running a virus scan using Norton.

Hope this helps
