What is the Moderator Worth in $$ to the members?

Jun 9, 2005 3:41PM PDT

I recently asked one of our respected Moderators to cost out the price for a complete PC or Mac installation.
The typical cost will be about $400. IT help runs around $200 per hour.
Just think about this, everytime that anyone sends out a question to forum members, and receive a post with the Moderators answers, that means that you have the answer without shelling out money to your IT person. A savings of $200 per hour that you will not be charged here on the CNET Forums.
One heck of a savings!!
LET'S HEAR IT FOR OUR MODERATORS!!! :

Is everyone away for the weekend? When you come back, you may want to add a thought to the post.

Yes, the Moderators are GREAT.

Are you aware that the primary purpose of their job is to keep the forums from getting into chaos by nasty posts???

We are lucky that all of them are also very technologically bright.

All are great:)

Saved me so many times, so I can fly like an eagle, rather than the turkey I am.

I usually identify myself with Dumbo!!! Especially when I do something really stupid like not checking the jumper on a new WD HDD! Toni bailed me out of that one just before I took a hammer to the daughters PC!! LOL

emailed me with a link to this thread...I hadn't been into this particular forum for a week or better and wouldn't have seen it any too soon.

The Moderators here all do great work and put forth effort above and beyond the call of duty....and as a Moderator/member who still asks for help when I have thrust that computer sword into my foot and am running in circles, I know positively where to go to get the answers I need to get the sword out with minimal damages.

I just ran into a situation this past week with a neighbor's computer and posted in the Computer Help forum to get the info I needed about an old DOS command that I could remember the command but not what would appear on screen once issued. Got the problem resolved finally with a format and discovered other issues relating to hardware that I didn't expect but got it up and running without having to holler for help again.

I NEVER call any local repair shops here.....if the forum members don't have the answer in CNET, NOBODY will have the right ones. The wealth of knowledge and information here is astounding....and even if I wasn't a Moderator, I would still be hanging around and slurping up the advice like a huge sponge.

Thanks to the members in this thread who have given me kudos......the thing they don't seem to acknowledge is that in order for the Mods and other members to help them, THEY have given over their trust that we will do no harm, and THEY do all the work with the instructions we lay out. So kudos to the members........every day.

I have been coming to CNET for only
Jun 12, 2005 7:11AM PDT

a little more than a year and have learned more from the members in here than I could ever learn anywhere else in a very short amount of time. They are too numerous to list here and I would not want to leave anyone out so I won't name names but finding CNET was a great find IMO. The members here make up a great community of people and whatever question one member doesn't have the answer to, another one does and vice versa so everyone benefits and learns from it. My thanks to the members in here. Happy

Lee, Good choice when you do it. Not just Macintosh or a PC system. Everything!
It would be interesting to read all of his post replys. Do you have a lot of time?!

Thanks, Kevin
