Question

What is the difference between offsite storage and backup?

Jul 11, 2012 11:58PM PDT

I am a small business with 17 computers and a hardwired network. I have 2 Buffalo NAS boxes that we use for network storage and access by all. it is behind a switch and then a VPN firewall, then cable modem. We access the network internally via the network and externally via VPN.

I have lots of data and no reliable and/or easy to use backup device or plan.

I need to update and upgrade my hardware and am wondering if going offsite makes sense. Offsite backup seems to make sense but i am wondering if I do storage and backup off site? i cannot find a clear difference between offsite storage and backup. Is there a difference? Is there such a thing as having my network completely offsite? Is it affordable? Reliable? Secure?

Does anyone know the difference between offsite storage and offsite backup?
