What is the big deal with Windows Beta?

Feb 10, 2009 6:39PM PST

If i get it right, Windows 7 Beta is not for public (even if it is called public beta). It is more for the developers who don't have money for the MSDN subscriptions. I remember when Windows Vista Public Beta came out, there was not a buzz about it (compared to Win7).

I don't really get why it is so popular. I would like to have betas and RCs lef alone for beta testers and ahead of time developers...

Just a bit surprised,

Two Reasons

About anybody can download it. Install it, and *gasp* enjoy a version of Vista that actually works.

Vista has a better interface than XP. It's on a par with OS X (I'll give my nod to Vista though).

So.
1) It's Vista that works.
2) It's a public beta that the tech oriented folks can participate in.

My 2 cents.

It's still windows though. Lipstick on a pig.
Still got the registory, and no unix base.
Big improvement still. Wink
