Question

What is the best tablet for general use travelling to Thaila

Dec 27, 2012 11:30AM PST

I will be travelling to Thailand and my Thai wife will be going with me. I am thinking about getting a tablet but have no idea which might be the best for our use. I imagine I will be checking email and doing Skype while she will be sharing photos and taking photos and using Skype also. She does have a Nikon D3000 so taking pictures is not a real big thing. Sharing pictures though will be, she has a large family there in Thailand and lots of pictures to share. On the sharing bit, I thought I could just put the photos on a thumb drive or memory stick and then import them when we wanted to show everyone. The question is, do any of the tab lets let you do that?

I would love to hear any ideas and opinions. I am tbhinking of: Samsung Galaxy, Google Nexux 10 or iPad2.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Answer
Seems the Galaxy or the iPad 2.

Many of the Galaxy models have the card slot. The iPad 2 has that camera kit. My Nexus 7 is very slim on ports and the USB host is not enabled by default so it knocks it off the list.

As far as thumb drive connectivity goes, there is a plethora of aftermarket USB and memory card port adapters. You should be able to pick up something for under $30 Wink
