This is a nasty question only because it awakes what people *may* like of a notebook, so pick your features and take it from there. So, if you want a plain old notebook, check into IBM offering. Dell and HP/Compaq provide decent offering too, but IMHO pale to IBM. Pricing is more for IBM, once you get away from bottom-end offering then they seem to be even. Toshiba notebooks are good as well. Warranty and any after sale needs should be carefully viewed before the sale. Another reason I like IBM. SO check each website for sale details and see what suits ya. I wouldn't discount any offering from Sager, WinBook, Acer, and others, if you look closely they're almost the same, but whatever notebook you buy, buy what you need it for not for just on features or price, anything after the sale is costly or costier.
