Question

What is the best 'lossless' Digital Audio Player for me?

Aug 27, 2015 4:41PM PDT

I think the max frequency that matters, (48k max I've heard.) Replaceable batteries and microSD storage are already things I know I need. No radio tuner is nescessary. It also must be able to have awsome tagging abilities so I can add great detail to my music (File management software). Good playlist software as well & Ripping capabilities as well (I want it to be able to play ANY music format I throw at it.) a touch screen is nice but not required however a hi-res display screen IS. It also needs to function as a DAC/Headphone AMP. The FiiO X7 is what I am thinking of as a possibility. I know those are alot of expectations but the closest things you can think of would be much welcome!

Clarification Request
The player doesn't do some of that, it's the source PC

For example, you use software on a PC or Mac to tag/rip, not the player. Let a specialist handle that instead of a mere player Wink

Your last requirement (to me at least) is somewhat akin to finding a purple unicorn. I've yet to see something that's a true DAC/Headphone AMP as such, other than the normal ability to successfully plug in headphones <shrug>. In any case, $699 is kind of steep for such a device IMNSHO.

FWIW, my iPhone and iPad both can play back my tagged FLAC files w/ VLC and some other apps as well.
