Question

What is the best laptop for me?

Feb 17, 2016 11:29AM PST

I am looking for a (preferably) windows laptop. Size doesn't matter, however i'm a web cam model and I need a great processor that can handle HD broadcasting at around 30+ fps or better. I also need a decent amount of memory. I had this picked out https://t.co/3lLjMnR9td

However someone informed me I need to have an I-7 processor, instead of I-5, and more memory, and I think that may be a bit too much. Any opinions? Thanks.

This is rarely a laptop issue but your ISP upstream rate.

I can't guess why it must be live streaming. None of the current YouTube fashion folk live stream. They record, edit, then upload. I may upset you but going live is not a good move.

I live stream on adult web cam sites, you know xxx stuff. It's not just recording videos and what not. I have checked my upload speed and it's terrible, around .30mbps but i'm upgrading it soon, and my laptop is definitely holding me back as it is, just because I have the cheapest computer I could buy at walmart at the time, and it's starting to deteriorate. I want something that will last a lot longer than a year.

I'm not sure I need an i-7

I may be just fine with the i-5, I have an external encoded webcam already, it's a Logitech C920. Price range is flexible I just don't want to pay more than I have to for what I do need. I usually try and broadcast at 1080p just because the picture is clearer and I make a lot more money that way. I'm not sure how great my internet will be once I upgrade but it should work a lot smoother than it is now. I can get 20-30fps right now streaming 480p with .30mbps with my current externally encoded webcam. I currently have an Acer aspire 15, amd quadcore processor 1.5GHz, and the computer linked above is almost double the GHz. So I think the extra processor speed will help quite a bit, at least with the hardware side of things. The internet i'll just have to upgrade as well. Money isn't so much an issue, because this is my full time job and if I must invest money into it I shall. It's also tax deductible Wink

Look at those Asus ROG models.

I'll share my son just replaced his 5 year old laptop with another gamer laptop. Here's the old and the new.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034NGZWM ( ASUS Republic of Gamers G51JX-X3 later upped to 8GB RAM, SSD )
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01578ZKPO ( ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71 15-Inch Gaming Laptop, Discrete GPU GeForce GTX 960M 2GB VRAM, 16GB DDR4, 1TB ) and for 120 bucks we swapped out the 1TB HDD for a 512GB SSD.

Actually the old laptop could game quite well even after this many years. But he wanted to play a bleeding edge title called Metal Gear Solid 5. He says it's great now.

The Asus is still working fine. Yes he wore out 2 keyboards but we can replace those cheaper than a new laptop.

Hope this helps.
