SSL FAQ

From the web site you mentioned:
----------------------------------------------------

What is an SSL Certificate?

The central authority (called Certificate Authority) is responsible for issuing digital certificates for a domain name. In order to be eligible for a SSL Certificate, you must first purchase an SSL Certificate and then go through a verification process conducted by the Certificate Authority.

Why should I buy an SSL Certificate?

An SSL Certificate assists in the following ways:

It encrypts the information sent from your user’s browser to your website.
It authenticates your website identity

If your website requires customers to feed in their personal and sensitive data, they need to be assured that this data is well protected and does not get into harmful hands. An SSL certificates’ primary job is to protect your customers and consequently increase your business’ image.

Do SSL Certificates work in all browsers?

SSL Certificates are compatible with all major browsers like Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.

Are the backups encrypted?

The backups of your data are stored on Amazon Web Services Simple Storage System, also known as S3. S3 boasts durability levels of 99.999999999% which is achieved by distributing storage of data across multiple locations and facilities. Although S3 is not the cheapest form of data storage, we firmly believe it is the most reliable method to keep your data secure.

Can I upgrade my SSL Certificates?

No, SSL Certificates do not support upgrades or downgrades yet. If you do find you require a new certificate, you can purchase the same and install it on the same web browser where your previous certificate was being used.

Do I need technical expertise to set up an SSL Certificate on my website?

Installing an SSL Certificate does not require technical expertise. However, a series of steps do need to be followed for successful implementation which you can find here.

I'd buy the cheapest, unless their sales person can explain why the most expensive is better.
