What is Microsoft ras?

Mar 21, 2004 9:47PM PST

I bought a Compaq computer with Windows 98SE and a 333 Celeron. I am trying to install NetZero dial up software and it says I must install Microsoft ras before I can complete the installation. What is it and how do I install it? I am not sure, but I believe the person who had the computer was hooked up to a cable modem. JB

All right, I found out that ras stands for "remote access service" If my understanding is right, this allows someone to take control of your computer from a different loction. Is this not a high security risk, even IF I knew how to encrypt anything? Why would this be nessessary for NetZero dial up services? JB

I cant find a way to install ras. I am lead to believe this is not available on Windows 98SE. Is it just available on machines with Windows NT? JB
