Question

What is happening and does anyone know what to do?

Apr 23, 2018 4:16PM PDT

About once a day and sometimes more my laptop screen will freeze and will go pixelated, red and green streaks, varying in intensity. OR sometimes it'll turn like a transparent white across the screen or included with the red and green streaks. Twice my screen has also gone black and white right before going back to normal. After a few moments it goes back to normal. What is happening and what's the problem and does anyone know a way to fix it?

There are many causes but

I like to hear what the make, model and age is along with how long since you used the canned air.

I'll wait for a reply since what you tell me will set the direction of where we go next.

It's an HP Pavillion with a touch screen from 2015, it's about 2 and a half years old. I actually used canned air just a couple days ago but nothing heavily, mostly just to get dust and dirt out from under the keys, but this problem has been happening for about a week or two i think.

There are dozens of pavillion models

These can get into such a state as the owners rarely clean the vents and insides. All skill levels arrive here so if I had this one I would start with a deep clean of the machine's internals.

I can't see if there is a service manual to help with the disassembly. Please consider adding full model numbers unless this is too much to share (privacy? we respect that here.)

Note: Edited as you did call out a laptop.

Additional additional info

It's an HP Pavillion Notebook, Product Number: T3N74UA#ABA BIOS:F.17-03/10/2016 (i was mistaken, it was 2016, my bad)

Tonight i'll try to do a better canned air cleaning, though i am not sure how to take my computer apart for optimal cleaning.
