What is Gateway Error and how do I fix it?

by pupskweek / January 6, 2015 11:54 AM PST

I just got a used netbook, it's not very old and it finds my wifi with no problem, but when I try to connect it it says "Gateway Error." I have called Frontier and they tell me not to bother them with WinXP problems and used computers especially. The lady I bought it from used her wifi all the time with no problem; I cannot find any information about gateway. Can you give me an idea of what to do? Thanks!

Try this troubleshooting steps;

1. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections

2. Right click on the Wireless Network Connection > Properties

3. At the General tab, scroll down and double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

4. At the General tab, thick on Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically

5. Now, open Internet Explorer (mozilla firefox is the best) and you can surf the internet now!

Hope this helps..!!!

Hi, normally the gateway error will occur when the server did not respond to the request. In order to fix this check the below links.
