Is over 1200USD a day. With full days being charged. That number is all over the map but running a server like that without IT saved them thousands so a big bill when troubles hit is the norm.
The other day I got a call from a friend of mine, he told me their server was down and crippled their production, and asked if I would come and fix it since I was off. So I arrive only to find that their DC was down and it had finally reached the point everything cached was gone No logins etc. To make a long story short their set up was a complete mess. After getting a quote for part and having me recover the data they go ahead and have me bring the domain back up, a day into it they decided now they wanted to host in the cloud.
So I had set up a rds system for them to host 19 users to run several applications, and then had me build a couple PC'so for them.
This was quiet a painful process because of how poorly it was set u, extremely far behind on technology.
After deploying everything and training a guy to help they asked what I was charging. I thought to myself good question I have never been called to repair for an emergency on site as I am a sysadmin and I have not been in this situation before.
I know it completely varied, but can anyone give me a ballpark figure on what I should be charging for this?
