Resolved Question

What is "Code LPS" Error

Aug 21, 2012 1:16PM PDT
I have been running from pillar to post to find fix for the following.

Every time I boot I get one Error Box which says:

"Error while unpacking program, code LPS, Please report to author"

I have no clue what the hell is this error, more so where to find the AUTHOR.

Any help Sir ?

What is "Code LPS" Error

I have no antivirus running.
I have tried in Safe mode but have no clue what to check

Did you..

(I only mentioned Safe Mode to see if the error still occurs)

Did you try what Kees suggested? Go to Start>Run. Enter msconfig in the empty field to right of "Open". Click on the start up tab. As mentioned, by process of elimination you might be able to find "who the author" is.

A few areas to investigate as a result of a google search...

• Do you have any security software running at start up?
• According to some lists (which report the error) an obsolete antivirus could be the cause. Did you have an A/V installed at any point in time? If so, did you remove it completely?
• More than one site reports a download manager to be the culprit.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. It offers a free version.

As Kees, I would also start by running msconfig.

What is it? It's Code LP5 - (The # 5. Not the letter "S")

Error while unpacking program, code LP5, Please report to author

Not a sir, but if it's occurring during start up, I would first look towards your anti-virus. Try (completely) disabling it, prior to a restart.

You might also want to consider starting in Safe Mode and work your way onward from there.

Do you remember what you were doing (or perhaps installing?), prior to seeing the error message? How about the Event Viewer? Anything to report?

It's a much as I'm able to offer considering the information provided.

Best of luck..

I'd first look at the startup tab of msconfig to see what programs are running at startup. It could very well be one of them. Then it's easy to find out (by elimination) which one it is.
