What Is Causing This Message To Come Up????

Aug 26, 2010 6:59AM PDT

When my brother turns on the computer he gets 2 beeps and the following
below message:
System CMOS Checksum Bad.
If he hits the F1 key the computer finishes loading up without a problem.
Also, the time on his clock is always wrong and needs to be changed.
What could be causing this message to come up????
My brother doesn't have and has never had an internet hooked up to his computer.

CMOS battery is too low

That's the most common cause. I've also seen this rarely caused by some corrupt BIOS that just needed to be re-flashed. The battery is the obvious first choice.

Complete Screens/How Hard Is It????
Aug 29, 2010 4:00AM PDT

Thanks for the reply!!!!
Below is the complete screens that come up when my brother turns
on his computer:
Error 0271= Check date and time settings
Error 0251= System CMOS check sum bad- Default configuration used
Press <DEL> to setup
<F1> to resume
If he uses F1 the computer boots up normally.
How hard is it to replace the battery????
Also, with his computer eventually stop booting up if he doesn't
correct this problem????
