It's debatable today if the 1G RAM pays off. Our dragstrip races on same 2.0GHz P4 with 1G or 0.5G completed within minutes. So the 5 minute savings wasn't worth it.

ALL THIS MAY CHANGE in the 64-bit realm. I see NO reason to stick with 32-bit for this, but today is only a few days early to move out. If you don't mind changing the machine in a year as 64-bit gets more traction, then go with the tried and true.

Look at http://www.tomshardware.com for benchmarks.

the dell XPS Pentium 3.2 ghz is the best by far with there only being one downside - the price

many people complain about it being too expensive, bt if youve got the money, go for it!

Neither i would go with the Bunnie computers (i know its a funny name ) Hare Experience Pro w/ 3.4 Ghz P4 Extreme Edition 1 GB DDR Ram, Radeon 9800 Pro, 19" mon. Plus based on new prescott P4 unlike HP or Dell.

Seriously man, all you do is recommend Bunny computers. I went to their site (not that professional looking), they don't even have a 3.4 ghz procesor like you say you have. I have a bad feeling about this site, just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Like bob mentioned earlier going with the 64bit gives you headroom for upgrading. The athlon 64 and fx line of cpus are fantastic i got one myself. You could get one configured by HP or build one yourself. In video editing you have no need for a high end card like a 9800 because it wont be doing anything. You could go with a workstation card like a matrox which could do some hardware rendering but those are generally pretty expensive. I say if you want a system that can tackle video editing without a sweat go with an amd 64 or fx if you can afford it maybe even an opteron. Try figuring out the price of all the components seperately and look into building your own. It doesnt take a whole lot of skill and is much cheaper and you get a great sense of accomplishment when done. The choice is yours.
