It's a small world as I write some test apps for some factory lines. They pushed back for years to avoid networking in the factory area and I juggled as best I could to do without.
If I was to do this again I'd put it all on a web server and then access could be via that and from any browser.
As to 'surfing the web' that's not possible since the network is under our control.
Again, BTDT but can't give it to you since it belongs to the company.

Here is the issue:
We have over 1500 SKU's and they change, on the average about once a year.
We have been thinking of putting iPads on the shop floor, (secured), and updating the specs as needed - thus doing away with the paper binders that are too cumbersom.
There is no WIFI and we do not want web browsing going on. However at first glance I see problems with organizing the files on the iPad. I also wonder if we are complicating this when there is something simpler to use.
Any suggestions, comments would be appreciated.
