What is best desktop to connect to big-screen HD TV?

Oct 25, 2011 7:59AM PDT

I currently own a basic laptop unfortunately it doesn't have an HDMI port and TV I have doesn't have an VGA input. I'd like to purchase desktop in which I would mostly use to view media using slingbox. I plan to sling cable from my parents house. I was someone could give me a recommendation to a good desktop for these purposes and/or specs I should consider in making this purchase. Thanks for your help!

As another poster stated, VID card with hook up, HDMI, ETC. You said SLING cable from your parents house, are we talking from a distance? Just curious and if so, what kind of distance are we talking about.

Answer
It's not so much the PC . . .

but the video card. Most modern PCs have the power, you just need a video card with the proper output. Prices range from fifty bucks or less to over two hundred.
