Question

What is a normal web page loading time?

Oct 5, 2012 10:54PM PDT

I noticed that my laptops load some web pages rather slowly (CNET, YAHOO or SPEEDTEST.NET)

However, when I check my wireless speed I get 18-22 Mbps.

I use Google Chome and occasionally IE 9.

When I pinged CNET I got 65-73ms, speedtest.net was 93ms but with www.google.com it was 13ms.

My laptop is ASUS Zenbook core i5 (2nd generation) 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. I use Windows 7 OS.

I also tried using dedicated DNS but no change noted.

There's no such thing as a "normal" page load time. Way too many variables at play for there to be anything more than a very loose average. Even that would tend to be pretty useless.

a lot like asking what normal hair color is or normal rainfall or normal time to start a fire - can't really be answered because normal is different depending on who, where and when you happen to be.

Internet page loading times can vary widely depending on YOUR location and the server you connect to because that page does not follow the same route every time you connect and each different route may or may not have some sections with limited bandwidth. The loading time for any page can also depend on the amount and size of graphics and scripts and scripted actions per page and how well your specific PC handles the graphics and scripts.

Try this link and try the different cities two or three times at various times of the day and you will see what I mean:

Then also try this as it gives you a bit more information to consider:
