What hardware would be best??

by gomezy3k / May 28, 2009 4:12 AM PDT

Not sure what happened, I stopped getting anything on my monitor so think it might be the video card... Anyway... I love the tower (it has a reset button that most new towers do not have) so want to basically Frankenstein this thing so it is a better computer. I had it built from scratch about 4 or 5 years ago. The local PC Club went out of business here so am going to have to find a new place to build it for me.

I bought a new Gateway but it sucks since it doesn't really have what I want or need. I play online games and PC games (Oblivion, and the other Elder Scrolls games, etc) and have had some problems with not being able to run it unless it is on the lowest setting. It does have 3Gig Ram which is nice but that is about it. The rest sucks.

What are some suggested parts and pieces (motherboard, processor, etc)?? I know just enough about computers to get myself in trouble so just need a list to take to builder along with tower and say make it...

I play games (as mentioned above, download music from Internet and have a turntable that I connect to USB to load the music from LP's so need something that I can use to not only hear good music sounds but also be able to get into the music and remove static and noise (using Cakewalk which came with turntable).. I need stuff that will work together and not conflict and unfortunately use VISTA (I hate it, it sucks...give me XP)...

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
