What happens to files that were saved in System Restore

by Rosemere / October 4, 2006 9:16 PM PDT

I have used my System Restore at times, using XP Home. My question is if this has happened over a period of time do the files build up on the computer. I have my percentage set for 1 % which I assume is acceptable. What happens to programs we delete by Add/Remove and then we can restore thru System Restore.
My Dell computer is two years old so there must be garbage building on it by now.

That's simple. Programs are never saved. Here's why.

System Restore does not protect your programs and files. It's strictly for the OS, registry and the ... OS.

Hope this helps you understand how limited SR is.

If everything is working fine I can clean up the SR storage space by disabling it and enabling it. A fresh restore point will be created.
