ICE arrests 680 undocumented workers at Mississippi food processing plants

U.S. immigration authorities arrested nearly 700 people at seven agricultural processing plants across Mississippi on Wednesday in what federal officials said could be the largest worksite raid in a single state.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement they detained about 680 people who were working illegally at the plants. They said they also seized business records as part of a federal criminal investigation.

Tom Super, spokesman for the National Chicken Council, an industry group, said meat processing companies do their best to hire legal workers.

Any American chicken pluckers out there looking for work?

The price of chicken will go through the roof?

How does THAT work...people(illegal immigrants) just show up one morning and start work without being hired by the AMERICAN COMPANY?

Any chance these AMERICAN COMPANIES will be charged?

Discussion is locked

That's NOT what I've been hearing about

the raids....as people were arrested they were asked if there were children at the home and if one of the parents would be available to take care of them while this one was in custody. If the answer was no because it was a single parent home, that person was let go after an hour or so to be with their child again. HS wasn't expecting children to BE AT THE FACILITIES being raided....some actually WERE and were WORKING THERE AS WELL.

From drp's Reuter link
Aug 9, 2019 10:04AM PDT

"ICE officials told reporters on a call on Thursday that they had released 303 people for humanitarian reasons - if they were pregnant or a primary caretaker of children, for example. Among those released pending a hearing before an immigration judge were 18 “juveniles” who had been working in the plants, including one 14-year-old, ICE said. "

You'll find all that and more in the link I supplied.

I read it.

Brief visits were allowed after determining the existence of children.
The workers were of childbearing age. The cops were geared for arrests of adults.
Link also has a quote from a local school superintendent. You should read that too.

clueless HS employees.
Another thing you learn in L.A. is that all ages- younger than 14- will be working. That's how the family survives. Age-related health and safety rules don't apply to the exploited. No rules apply.
Some of the mothers released "for humanitarian reasons" haven't yet got back to their children. That's why the locals have been their caregivers. All those arrested, released or not, are subject to deportation. A temporary reprieve. And, what's HS's record on keeping families together in the long run?

is no different for American citizens who commit crimes....you go to jail (deported) and you are separated from your family. Too bad...it's the price you are evidently willing to pay by breaking the law in the first place. How many children have died in the deserts or rivers because their parents weren't worried about separations?

When do the PARENTS take responsibility by the left?

Boohoo...…...

so you believe the parents who risked their kids' lives aren't ultimately responsible when they are separated either by deportation/border crossings or death?

Not all are children obviously, but many are.

take your pick from any of these stories re: Rio Grande River deaths

You say it's MY hatred showing? Not hardly....I have NO love lost towards parents who would be so irresponsible toward their own children that they would endanger them deliberately. That's not hatred....it's total disgust. Liberals blame the USA for this crap and NEVER once blame the ones who CHOSE to put their children at risk.

What's that you say? "Lots of that these days also"....I assume you mean American citizens being separated by jail cells. Your flippant attitude speaks volumes because you claim to be a 'Christian' and stay silent on THAT issue but get all teary-eyed over illegals having THEIR kids separated. Gimme a break with your hypocrisy, please. And you wonder why I slam doors in your faces.

So many errors. They are closer to the "Judaizers" which Apostle Paul warned the early true Christians about.

There is danger to families from emigration. They chose it why? To irritate conservatives? To take your hard-earned spoils? To unelect Trump?

read the Bible how???????? You know what they say about 'assume', right?

As for danger to immigration.....that danger comes from the ILLEGALS who target the LEGALS here on a regular basis. Or don't you bother to check facts about these things? Just as black on black crime is a regular occurrence , so is Latino on Latino crime.

Neither is shunning a part of discussion, but JW has no problem with it. You worry about families of emigration, but what about families deliberately shunned by their other family members through shunning at JW Elders' commands? Don't talk to us about hatred and families.

An old story.
The closest an 'illegal' story came to justice was a few years ago when many celebrities and high GS-level civil servants were found to have illegal nannies and maids. To my knowledge none of the "fortunate sons" went to jail.

On that we agree, I want to see higher ups in the companies who are hiring these illegals, especially when it's so rampant and apparent in their company, spend time in jail, and pay fines out of their own pockets, and the company coffers. It's justified by the govt cost of undoing their criminality in hiring the illegals, thereby encouraging more border runners.
