That's actually a great budget.

OK we see from http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay?javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.prp_ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c03254185-13%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.tpst=ba847bafb2a2d782fcbb0710b053ce01&sp4ts.oid=5187028&ac.admitted=1405380528605.876444892.199480143 it has a 300 WATT PSU.

That's barely enough so you'll buy a 600 WATT PSU first then use the remaining funds to pick from this list.

The small case likely means you'll leave the cover off or cut about a 30CM square hole in the case cover to max out the air flow.

Cheap and simple

Shop for a hd 5450 1GB model.
I see them for about 25 bucks.
That should be just a plug it in and let it fly.

If you go much above that you will move into the power and cooling problem area.

It should give a nice bump over the integrated graphics.

Work at what?

Gamers would be pretty upset at that over the bottom of the list at tomshardware.com

Sorry, I meant would it work for gaming and would my PC be able to handle it as it currently is?

I'm going with no to the 5450.

It's an OK card but gamers would be upset. The bottom of the list at Toms would be, well, you can get the benchmarks as fast as I can now.

Another 610. A gamer will not be happy.

OK, I gotta ask. I supplied THE LIST and you are looking at less than the bottom of that list by a long shot.

Looking without having to change
by danguar01 / July 15, 2014 3:19 AM PDT

I'm looking at graphics cards that I could use without having to upgrade anything but if I have to, I will.

How much do you think a 600w psu will be?

How much?

Depends on country. Your budget looked ample for card and PSU.

I'm in the California area.

200 British bills sounded ample to me.

I don't want to get pushy here but at the bottom of THE LIST was one that folk claim don't require a PSU change. I won't support such as folk (or rather my clients) tend to demand a lot from me. I in turn only give the full nod to 2+ year going to work well solutions without any compromise.

Ok, thanks I just had a look at the comments Happy

I now know I am going to upgrade to a 600w psu so, with that being said, out of that list what card would you go with?

My thoughts.
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / July 15, 2014 4:09 AM PDT

It depends on the games. Right now there is some issue with frame rates on ATI cards so my choice would be the first Nvidia on THE LIST.

I don't want to duplicate the web on this issue but it is being worked and only seems to afflict certain cards and games.

OK, what Nvidia is on the list at http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html

The UK may have that at
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-01G-P3-3731-KR/dp/B00L5GZOOK/?&tag=CNET notes 300 Watt PSU.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much, that card looks very nice!

The games I'm looking to play are Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, Minecraft, Just Cause 2 and others- would that PSU and card work well with them?

I fear I can't help.

In reply to: Games!

I found the highest GPU I could on the list with a note about the 300 Watt PSU and you asked for me to tell more than I did so far.

Sorry, but this is the best I can find for the moment if we don't change the PSU.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
