Question

What graphics card could I upgrade to from this desktop?

Sep 23, 2015 8:28PM PDT

I have an Avatar FX6164. I love it, but I need to upgrade for some games that I play. The specs are great, but I just want to upgrade to a 4gb graphics card. Got any suggestions on a card?

Here's the link for the desktop:

Thanks in advance!

Shop for a gtx 750ti.
That should be a straight swap and give a nice bump in gaming perf.
It is not 4GB.

If you try to move above that to some 4GB card expect to upgrade the psu.
450w is not going to cut it.
It's your budget and your call.

What would I have to buy to get another one? What psu?

Most PCs don't need a new PSU for most 750 cards.

That's why it's one of the favorites out today.

These are the parts of a common desktop PC:

I bet you meant your desktop PC (Avatar.) That desktop already came with the Nvidia 640 so let's compare the 750 to that.

Looks like a nice step up. In many cases double the performance.

Power supplies should be fine. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-review,3750-21.html pegs it at 60ish Watts or about the same or less than the 640.
