what gear is needed to split highdef expresvu/dish sat sig?

Aug 14, 2005 2:21PM PDT

hi, i am thinking about getting a highdef receiver for my expressvu/dish account. Apparently I will get a dual LNB in the box. So after I install it and run a second wire into my basement, then I want to split off the signal to a second non-highdef receiver. I have been told I will need a special splitter (not the ones I have kicking around that splits the regular cable signals). Can someone please tell me what exactly i will need for hardware to do the split as well as a good place to buy it? Is there a site somewhere that provides the "connection options for dummies" equivalent? Also by doing this splitting, does the highdef signal feed to the highdef receiver degrade? what about the other single cable feed?

Thanks!

Dish will install it for you, you need to have the Dish Pro LNB for this.
Have you called Dish and asked them what you need?
Are you talking about 3 recivers total? John

doing self install...

dish/bell charges 100 bucks around here to do the install so i was going to give it a shot, i am just confused about what splitter/whatever i will need once i have the 2 rg-6 feeds coming in from the dual lnb. I want to have 2 receivers, 1 high def, 1 non high def, apparently the old school splitters do not cut it...
