Question

What editor to play audio faster?

Mar 15, 2016 3:00PM PDT

Hey, I hope someone can help me. I merged a video and an audio file, basically recording the same thing. I expected that the recording/playback would be the same speed but they are not (in 1 hour, the audio is 10sec slower). Now I need a video or audio editing program that let's me speed up the audio. Ideally, I could import video and audio to the same program and then just grab the end of the audio file and drag it 10 sec forward (without changing the start point) and therefore speed it up. Alternatively, I could use an audio editor, import the file, tell it to save it with 1.01 speed or so and then use that file to merge with my video.
Does anyone have good ideas for a (free) simple program for me?
Thank you so much!

I think Audacity does that.

It does, but it is not sensitive enough

Thank you so much for your help. Audacity has that option, however, I can only change the speed in 1% intervals, which is not sensitive enough for me. I need 0.01% intervals Sad
Also, I realized when I import the exact same files in another program, the audio is 3sec faster than the video. How can that be?!

Shame.

Why not try a DAW. There are a few free ones out there which will change tempo in tiny increments. There's Studo one free, Ableton live lite 9, and Linux Multi Media Studio for windows.

I think it can be done in Audacity Bob.
