What does "no hardware identifier" mean?

Oct 13, 2004 11:01PM PDT

I'm haveing connection problems. When I use the "control panel" to check if the modem is working correctly, I get this message, but the machine appears to be testing the modem. Does that mean the modem isn't working. What port should the modem use?

Thanks in advance
Jerry
