You are paying someone big bucks to be in the front of the line.

Most EVDO cards (yes your link is 3G) are under 99 bucks (many are free) at http://www.3gstore.com

what does it mean to have the antenna in rugged housing?

Because some owners break them. The site I noted sells the usual EVDO cards for no money to about 50 bucks. Your card appears to be the new snazzy 3G card but you have to decide if you must be first in line. Some models have antennas, some have them in the housing. Shop around.

Also, didn't they tell you the the 3G coverage isn't all over yet? I'll leave you to discover where it falls back to EVDO just outside of town.
