once had a bit in one of his stand-up performances that was something close to : "Why did God create people? He wanted plastic. "

Another was Carlin's ire at people's hubris in "Saving the Planet" - he remarked that "The Planet" will shrug us (people) off like a bad case of fleas.

I miss Carlin often - the man was virtually unique for a comic in his examination of words, their usage, and the human condition. Some of his "specials" for HBO and broadcast are priceless, methinks...
