Question

What do I need for connectivity and better internet speed?

This is my first post here but I'll get to the point. I have a Netgear Router R8000 but away from my TV and network player. The network player, Lumin, requires ethernet connection while my LG OLED does not but I need to improve internet speed for the inbuilt Netflix app. I have a 100 mbps FTH connection but Netflix app shows the speed coming in as only 1.5 mbps wirelessly hence no HDR. Now to better the overall, do I need an wireless extender or a switcher from which the ethernet wire can go into the respective devices? I do understand that I will need to connect the switcher with an ethernet connection. How will I get the wire there, I am still to figure. I must admit that most things explained layman would be better as I am quite inexperienced. Thank you in advance.

No Bridge Mode in AC3200!

Also, my Netgear Router AC3200 does not have bridge mode. Don't know if this affects the above suggestion.

The item does not use bridge mode.

The term is the product name, not a tech feature. It's simply to pick up WiFi (better than a TV) and give Ethernet connections to devices.

A second VDSL modem-router may be better than bridge mode?

In reply to: The item does not use bridge mode.

Since I have a Fiber to Home connection, and one of the points near the TV and my system is charged, I'll just put a VDSL modem *** router there for all ethernet connections. That would probably give me fastest speeds for devices. I was looking at this https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/dsl-modems-routers/D7000.aspx?cid=wmt_netgear_organic

I'll shuttle between the two modems. As I am not sure how if much speed improvement will be there when the source itself will be wireless even if I use ethernet to connect devices to the media bridge.

No one I know did that.

Try it and tell the forum how it worked out.

Same here!

I have no choice as the Lumin (music server) distributor in Singapore is clear that I need to connect through ethernet and Cat6 patch cord. He feels otherwise it may affect the sonics as well as introduce lag in Hi-res music. On the media bridge front he felt I would still be using wireless strength. If I do go this route, I will definitely leave my thoughts here.
