What digital camera should I get?

Dec 19, 2004 9:48AM PST

I cannot decide which digital camera to get for christmas.
I am debating between the Kodak CX7330, the Canon Powershot A75, and the HP Photosmart M307.

I would like to ask for something cheaper, the kodak is only $150 when the Canon is $200. My purposes will be taking pictures of friends, places around city, places at my land in country, and friends skateboarding. I also want to shoot some videos of skating just to have, so video quality is important.
I saw videos taken by the canon and the kodak - the kodak's was so-so, very pixelated when the canon's looked very good! both had bad frames per second but the canon looked very clear even when WMP was extra big.

Which should I get? If you have any comments on any of these cameras, or any recommendations ( >$200), i would appreciate it.

Kodak CX7330, Canon A75, HP M307

The Kodak and HP are entry level cameras with a minimum of bells and whistles.

They are true point-n-shoot cameras.

The Canon can be left on "Auto" mode and it will function as a point-n-shoot camera. It also has all of the manual over-ride controls that the intermediate photographer would want.

I could not find a review for the Kodak or the HP.
I did find sample photos for the Kodak CX6330 which appears to have the same lens as the CX7330.

The Canon produced better photos than the CX6330.

Here is a side-by-side view of the specifications for the three cameras.

I read an article about digital camera reliability and HP was at the bottom. You might want to pass on that one.

Canon and Kodak.

The difference between the photos of the Canon and the Kodak were not that much.

If you don't want or need the manual controls that the Canon has, you should go for the Kodak.

WellI just noticed that the movie mode for the Canon is 640 x 480 pixels resolution when the Kodak's is only 320 x 240...

I think im going with the canon!

Canon is the easy choice

I saw a camera at www.WhoSave.com today, it's like $270 or something, I forget the model and stuff but it was 5MP maybe you can check that out. I can tell for a fact that canon usually have better motion captures. That will be a big plus when you take pictures of things moving.

PNY cards

I have not heard of PNY cards failing.

But if you have one of their mail-in rebates.....lots of luck.

They still owe me $20

Maybe that is how they sell cheaper than SanDisk.
