What cpu + motherboard should I get?

by ksload / August 13, 2006 5:16 PM PDT

Im planning to upgrade my pc to a amd duo core cpu and a motherboard to go with it. I dont want to spend more then $250. I was planning on getting AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core - Socket 939. But ive read that it has quite a bit of problems with nForce4 motherboards. Is this true?
If so what should I get for with my budget?

I multi-task quite a bit and play games from time to time. I want something that would run really smooth and cool.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

What about your other equipment? You'll need compatable memory. What about your Video Card configuration? You've blown that budget before even getting started.
What you need to do is make a grocery list and do a little homework. Don't forget (last but not least) a PSU.
