Sep 13, 2016 3:55AM PDT

My mom likes to play games. She's fake
Playing wow and Rift mostly. Amd fallout 4 but she says it lags to much on her computer . Here's what I have

8 gigs of ddr3 ram 1600
Motherboard-TA890GXB HD
Cpu- AMD Phenom II X2 555
Graphics card- MSI R5830 Twin Frozr II
Power Supply- OCZ700MXPS 700w

I know it's a bit outdated but what I can I do for about $150 or less to beef it up a bit to run better for games?

Get the latest bios and drivers for the mobo.
Get the latest driver for the gpu.
Verify that ram is set up to enable dual channel.
Be malware free.

That cpu is a dual core so it would be best to keep your background task to a minimum.
Use msconfig and turn off any unneeded startup programs.

If the disk is getting full uninstall some unneeded products.
Do a little gp house cleaning.

http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-5830-vs-GeForce-GTX-750-Ti tells me that while it's on the low side, it's not that bad a GPU to start with.

You really need to see if the machine is stable before you spend any money on it.

Gaming will be above average of many laptops and older boxes. It's not as bad as it seems.

Fallout 4 settings will have to be tinkered with downwards but it should be playable.

-> The problem I see is the CPU is a little low too and changing AMD CPUs can be a pain. If I can't wait, shop the GTX 960 or 950.
