what camera

I have around £800 possibly upto £1000 to buy a DSLR .I dont mind buying secondhand, any suggestions ?

But second hand means you may be buying someone else's problem unit. These usually are without warranty and just a promise. If you can't gamble, don't.

I don't understand if you have a around £800 possibly up to £1000 budget, why not just buy a new one. And many of the cameras aren't that expensive now, but depends on that's your needs for it to do.

Wrong question. When switching to an interchangeable lens system, the lenses are almost always more important than the camera body.
