Finding a new digital camera with a minimum focal length of 35mm will be very difficult.
All of the camera makers jumped on the wide-angle band wagon and completely forgot about normal focal length cameras.
I would suggest you avoid 14 and 16 MP cameras.
They have proven to be noisy and when the camera maker adds noise reduction firmware to the camera, you end up with pictures with less detail.
I would stay with 12 MP and under.
The only recent point and shoot camera I found with 35/36mm focal length and megapixels under 14 MP was the Canon SD4500-IS.

Im after:

Any ideas? Thanks.
