what camera should I buy?

by bigam / November 21, 2005 7:26 PM PST

Hello!
I wanna buy a digital camera, but i dont know which...
The maximum price should be 350 dolares
I wanna have it always with me, so it should be small!
And i want a camera to take photos to my friends, concerts(night), parties...
A good zoom, to take photos a little far from people, that way they dont repair and look more natural in photos.
A big LCD (2,5 inch)
And to finish, and very important: a fast machine.
And at leats 5 pixels, because i wanna print at least until A3 format....
I hope im not asking to much...
I hope you can help me...

What do you think of:

canon S70

panasonic Lumix DMC FZ 5
panasonic Lumix DMC LZ2

they are a little bigger but a little better to, right?
does the quality compensate the diference of size?

canon has viewfinder....

The Canon S70 is a good choice.
It has a wide-angle lens which is great for including more people into a photo.

The Panasonic FZ5 is a 12X with image stabilization and is a very popular camera.

The Panasonic LZ2 is a point-and-shoot camera with 6X image stabilization.

Here is comparison:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_s70%2Cpanasonic_dmcfz5%2Cpanasonic_dmclz2&show=all

Since you first listed that you wanted a camera that would work well in low light, I would not choose the Panasonic LZ2.

And you first mentioned you wanted a small camera,
the Panasonic FZ 5 is not a small camera.

What about PANASONIC LUMIX FX9?

I'm between this 2 cameras....

PANASONIC LUMIX FX9
CANON S70

the battery life of FX9(270 shots) is much better than Canon S70(+- 140 shots), is this true?

do i see well in lcd at night and with bright light? since the FX9 doesnt have viewfinder.

this 2 work ok at night?

thanks

Panasonic FX9 and Canon S70

Here is a link to a review of the FX9:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfx9/

They rate the FX9 as "Recommended"

Here is a link to the S70:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons70/

They rate the S70 as "Highly Recommended"

Here is a side-by-side look at the specifications:

....................................

I would not buy the FX9 if I was going to use it in low light situations, as its sensor is noisy when the ISO setting is raised.

very different sizes...which battery?
by bigam / November 24, 2005 11:44 PM PST

I went to a shop to see the cameras:

PANASONIC LUMIX FX9
CANON S70

And they have very differente sizes...
The CANON S70 may take better photos with low light, but is too big....i don't believe that im gonna take her everywhere.
And in the concerts the security is going to see the machine. But the LUMI FX9 is so small that i can hide her!
So I think that I'm gonna choose the PANASONIC LUMIX FX9!

Another doubt!
I wanna buy a extra battery to the camera, but in the batteries menu doesn't appears the panasonic battery to the LUMIX FX9... only appears to FX8.
Can you please tell me which is the battery to the LumixFX9?
Thanks
