Question

What backup/recovery can see NAS with rescue boot disk?

Apr 27, 2014 11:22PM PDT

Is there any PC (Windows 7 64b) backup/recovery software available which allows one to access a network (preferably wireless but ethernet is OK) and network attached storage (NAS) using a rescue boot disk.

Ultimately I want to run a backup/recovery software system which incrementally updates an image of an entire HDD on my PC laptop and then when the laptop's HDD crashes provide the ability to plug in a new HDD, boot from a rescue HDD and restore it completely.

I've tried Acronis and it doesn't work - the rescue disk cannot access my wireless network and cannot see the NAS. Based on the Acronis forums there are apparently 3rd party freeware plug-in apps which can allow the rescue disk to do this - but to me this seems to be getting to much into hacking and creating my own software.

I'm also trying EasyUS ToDo and Paragon but so far I haven't been able to create a rescue disk with either of those that would work.

To me it seems like a rescue/recovery software program at a minimum should be able to restore a laptop from data on a network but I'm not sure which (if any) programs do this.

Does anyone know of a rescue/recovery program that allows one to create a boot rescue disk that can be used to restore the system from a NAS?

But years ago this was done with G4U. Now while I haven't tried this since HDDs went past GB sizes it did connect to the FTP service on all the NAS I had back then. Link follows.

aomei backupper supports backuping to NAS.
NAS (network attached storage) device provides its users with great convenience. All individuals within a company are allowed to share their data at the same time by accessing remote NAS devices. As for data backup, you can also put the backup image file to a NAS device other than manually connecting the computer to an external hard drive. In this case, it is necessary for specialized Windows backup solution software to support backing up to NAS as well as restoring from NAS in Windows PCs and Servers. Here let's take a look at the latest free Windows backup software - AOMEI Backupper.
NAS device has provided us a possibility to backup our PCs and Servers in a more secure and convenient way. AOMEI Technology has made a full use of it by presenting the users "Backup to NAS" and "Restore from NAS" features in AOMEI Backupper. Now free download and have a try!
