General discussion

What are you saying.....

Mar 3, 2004 11:09PM PST

......about the system rebooting for no apparent reason? Mine did that today while idle. Yesterday I ran Norton A/V, AdAware, SpyBot, CWShredder with their latest definitions and upgrades and found no virus or parasites. I repeated it today after the rebooting and found also nothing. My system is protected by Zone Alarm.
I have no problem so far with my power unit which I think is 400W.

So what's wrong?

I think in a general way that the driver in your video card needs to be re-installed.

Kiriakos,

The most common reasons for that type of problem are "heat" related issues or multiple background programs causing conflicts. You can test the heat related issue by taking the cover off the computer box, blowing out the dust bunnies and making sure the fans are working, then point a house fan at the unit and run it with the cover off. Does the problem stop?

In addition, although you didn't list your operating system here, you can test the conflicting programs issue, by following the steps at the links below:

Follow the steps, Parts 1-4

If you're running Windows 2000/XP, check for other "services" that can be disabled:

Hope this helps.
