what are these files?

by Kelray / March 2, 2006 3:48 AM PST

I am using Microsoft Windows XP professional and I found a list of about 50 files in my windows directory that I have no idea what they are there for. The name of one of the files is "$NtUninstallkb903235$", but they are all very similar to this. Basically the only difference are the numbers. If somebody could tell me what they are and if it is safe to do delete them I would really appreciate it.

Uninstall files can be deleted...

Those that start out with ''$Uninstall'' are typically Windows Update uninstallation files. If, several days after you update Windows no problems arise from the update it's safe to delete those files. Just note that removing those files can make it pretty difficult to roll back the associated updates later, if necessary.

Hope this helps,

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
