New problem areas, compared with a desktop:
- you drop it
- you lose it
- it's stolen
- battery
- adapter
- touchpad

More with a laptop then with a desktop:
- cooling
- higher costs of repair
- short lifetime when not well maintained

Besides what Kees wrote.

1. How to use your laptop. Basic use and care instructions are not included. It could be debated if these should be included. Your car does not include how to operate and for care they tell you to take it in.

2. How to avoid malware. Today's common laptops are not immune to malware and such. They shouldn't be either. Long discussion why.

And I'll add:

- Screen size on a laptop - think eye strain
- Storage capacity - typically only one drive bay on a laptop

And one off the wall - weight - you don't carry a desktop but lug a Dell Precision or chunky 15" and you'll see what I mean!

That little round hole on the side of the laptop for the charger cord is often the weakest part of the laptop. People tend to jam the plug in or yank it out carelessly, and over time the port becomes loose or damaged on the inside of the laptop.
