What are the best micro systems, want for bedroom!

by Buffymay / March 12, 2008 10:32 AM PDT

I am planning on buying a micro system for my bedroom. The plan is to connect my ipod through a dock via an audio cable to the speakers, and listen through the system. Now, I don't want to waste hard earned cash on a piece of crap system, but I can hardly find any reviews of microsystems out there on the web! So, I ask you, are there any companies with a good rep for making these systems, or maybe a specific system caught someone's eye... Whatever the case, can you recommend something! Thanks in advance

I got my friend this

Monitor Audio system. A former regular here, Ben, alerted me to the $100 sale they had going. My friend freaking loves it.

Mutual friend is asking where to find it. Maybe its a good time to go hunting for her/you. Monitor audio makes a smaller version I think in black, IIRC Saturday Audio is selling em too.

Otherwise I've heard good things about certain TEAC mini-systems. Here is one consumer review. IIRC, I think Bill might of said a good thing about TEAC this as well... maybe his Dr's office??

Teac was a good reel to reel brand back in the day.

They were reasonable price, not quite the cache of Ampex. Not at all current with the status of the surviving brand name today, I spotted it in a nook at my podiatrist office. It sounded surprisingly mellow, but was not an iPod connected unit that I could see.

I am not current with iPod speakers & docks although there seem to be many on the market & the general law of you get what you pay for should apply. Most youthful users are probably poor enough to want decent sound without breaking their limited bank account.

Small speaker system

Buy a small pair of Genelec speakers. They are active so the amplifiers are built in (need no receiver, connect ipod directly to speakers) and they are bi-amplified. They are used by the world's best recording studios and are an EXTREMELY good sounding speaker with great value. Just need power from outlet to speaker with supplied cord.

I've heard good things about Audio Engine

They have 2 different sizes of powered speakers and the 350 dollar AE5's come with a plug in on the back for an airport express or a port for iPod dock charging. Seems a lot better than an all in one system.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
